The Cut

The Best Places to Eat and Drink in Circular Quay According to Time Out Sydney

Time Out Sydney’s editor rounded up the best restaurants and bars in and around Circular Quay in March 2026. Three iconic venues made the list. Here’s what to know before you book.

The Cut Bar & Grill, The Rocks

Time Out described The Cut as “a subterranean steakhouse and wood-fired grill in The Rocks” and that setting is half the appeal. The heritage-listed underground space on Argyle Street features forest-green booth seating and large marble tables. It’s the kind of room that suits a long evening.

The menu runs on New York steakhouse classics, with quality produce cooked over fire. Time Out specifically called out the bar as “perfect for an after-work snack.” The Cut’s Gibson — house-made Gibson mignonette, Oyster Shell Gin, served with a Sydney rock oyster — is the one to order. Or settle in with an end-of-night Negroni.

Reserve at The Cut Bar & Grill.

Saké Restaurant & Bar, The Rocks

Saké The Rocks sits on the same Argyle Street stretch. The bar snacks are where to start — chicken karaage, renkon chips with edamame dip, and teriyaki burger balls for two. The drinks list is long and considered, with sake, Japanese whisky and cocktails running alongside a full wine list. A natural stop before or after dinner.

Bar Patrón, Circular Quay

Bar Patrón brings modern Mexican to the Circular Quay end of the precinct, with Harbour Bridge views from the dining room. Freshly pressed corn tortillas, fiery salsas and taco platters are built for sharing. The drinks list is anchored by Patrón, with rare and limited bottles available. Happy hour runs Monday to Friday from 5 to 6pm.
